UPDATE: Rapid City man arrested for gun threat at motel

UPDATE — Oct. 15, 2019 4:43 p.m.

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Rapid City Police Department says an altercation between a few people at the motel ended when 19 year old Anthony Byrd of Rapid City allegedly pulled a 22 caliber rifle on another individual.

After a search warrant was executed at Byrd’s residence, police say they found the gun involved.

He was charged with aggravated assault and booked into the Pennington County Jail.

Police responded to a call of a person who reportedly threatened others with a gun at the Budget Inn Motel.

Rapid City police responded to the call shortly after noon. Officers have detained a suspect and are interviewing the parties involved, and police are still investigating what weapon was used in the incident.

Brendyn Medina of the Rapid City Police Department said that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
