Police arrest suspect in four Rapid City robberies

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A man who is believed to be connected with the four total robberies in the Rapid City area has been apprehended by the Rapid City Police.

Michael Daker, 58 of Rapid City, a suspect that the police believe to be involved in the robberies that occurred at the Loaf N’ Jug on Mar. 3, YesWay on Haines Avenue, and at the Motel 6 on Wednesday, March. 11 was arrested early this morning.

The police responded to a report of a robbery at 3:00 A.M. at the B P Casino on Friday, March 13.

When the police arrived at the scene, they made contact with an employee of  the business who said that an unknown male suspect entered the casino, pointed a firearm at the employee and demanded money, to which the employee complied. The male then left the scene.

Later, a Pennington County Sheriff’s Deputy advised that they had located a vehicle of interest in the robbery that was heading northbound on Sturgis Road. The RV camper was stopped after it crossed into Meade County at which point the occupants were ordered out of the vehicle.

Daker, 58, of Rapid City, exited the vehicle and was placed under arrest. The casino employee was taken to the scene of the traffic stop and gave a positive ID of the suspect of the robbery.

Daker was placed under arrest for First Degree Robbery and was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
