Police Activities League holds Saturday Barbecue
RAPID CITY, S.D.- Rapid City Police officers spend their work days patrolling the town, and sometimes spend their free time on the middle school football field.
The Rapid City Police Department Police Activities League, or PAL, has continues to expand over the past few years. They hold flag football and basketball games after school, and they’re starting mountain biking in May.
The next scheduled activity is a barbecue at North Middle School at 11 a.m. Saturday.
“I work as a school resource officer as well and a lot of our issues that we do have at the schools will either happen before, or during the kind of passing periods, or end of school,” explains SRO Nick Strampe, President of the RCPD Police Activities League. “So if we’re giving those positive outlets, it’s just another way of making sure we give something for kids to do.”
