Police: 4-year-old Iowa boy finds gun in car, shoots self
DES MOINES, IOWA — A 4-year-old boy from Iowa is recovering after shooting himself with a gun he found in his parents’ vehicle.
The incident happened Wednesday afternoon in southeast Des Moines. Police say the boy was left unattended in the vehicle and found the handgun.
He began playing with it, and then it fired, hitting him in the shoulder.
Authorities say the boy is in stable condition and is expected to recover.
They say the gun belonged to the boy’s parents, but have not said whether charges will be filed.
