Planning your parking for the Ellsworth Air and Space Show

ELLSWORTH AFB, S.D. — The Ellsworth Air and Space Show is expected to bring in an estimated 60,000 people and to accommodate the large number of visitors, and parking plans are in place.

Free parking spaces will be available on-base for all visitors. Plan to enter the base from Exit 607 Air Show Photo3 to Box Elder, head east on Highway 1416, and enter the base through Commercial Gate Road. Signage and traffic signals will be in place to ensure direction of travel.

Shuttles will also be available in designated parking areas.

Handicapped parking will also be available to those with a placard in their vehicle. Wheelchairs, walkers, and scooters are allowed to accommodate the travel along the span of the flightline.

Off-base parking with a shuttle ride to the Air Show entrance are available for purchase. The shuttle will pick up every 30 minutes from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days at the Black Hills Visitor Information Center at 1851 Discovery Circle at Exit 61, off of I-90.

A round trip ticket costs $30 per person, plus tax. Children under the age of five ride for free. You are authorized to bring anything on the shuttle that is allowed into the Air Show itself.

The Air Show kicks off Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15. Gates open at 9:00 a.m. MT and close at about 6:00 p.m. MT. Flying begins both days at about 11:00 a.m. MT.
