Pine Ridge woman found not guilty in fatal stabbing of boyfriend

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Pine Ridge woman on trial for stabbing her boyfriend to death with a screwdriver has been found not guilty.

Doreen Brown was on trial in Rapid City federal court for the stabbing death of Donald McMillan.

It happened outside her home in Pine Ridge last June.

Brown testified in her own defense, telling the court she didn’t mean to kill McMillan, that she was just trying to defend herself. Brown says he had been abusing her for more than a year and stabbed him when she thought McMillan was going to kill her.

Brown was charged with second-degree murder. As of Friday night, she is acquitted.
