Pine Ridge officers make arrests for drug possession and child endangerment

PINE RIDGE VILLAGE, S.D. — Police officers with the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety arrested two adult males on Sunday Feb. 24 for drug possession and child endangerment.

The two men were pulled over when an OSTDPS officer recognized the driver of a vehicle as one who had multiple outstanding arrest warrants. The officer called for backup when they noticed suspicious activity during a vehicle stop.

During a search of the vehicle officers found methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a large amount of US currency.

Officers also found a child in the vehicle with illegal narcotics in their possession. The child informed officers that the two men had instructions for what they expected the child to do with the narcotics. The child has been safely released to a family member.

The two men have been charged with possession and ingestion, manufacturing with the intent to distribute, and child endangerment.
