RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Badlands Sabres made a comeback against visiting Bozeman on Saturday night, securing back-to-back wins against the Icedogs this weekend.

The Sabres came out of the gate with a penalty just 15 seconds after puck drop (#17 Tyson Dunbar, high-sticking, double minor – 4 minutes). Bozeman was on the board first, with #11 Said Ayala scoring just 2:46 into the first period. The Sabres answered, with #18 Hunter Walla getting Badlands on the board at 5:26 in the first.

The first period ended with the Sabres down 3-1, and it was 9:27 into the second period before #7 Ian Vannelli brought the game to 4-2.

It was 5-2 after the second period, but the Sabres came out strong with three goals: #19 Brady Ridnour (8:24), #18 Hunter Walla (11:13), and #5 Dawson Wirth (13:16).

Tied at 5-5 and with both teams unable to break it, the game went into overtime and eventually a shootout. #12 Jack Walters scored the game-winning goal for the Sabres on the fourth round of the shootout, earning himself the first star of the game.

The Sabres racked up 60 minutes of penalty time, including 25 minutes for #13 Mason Martin for head contact and 25 minutes for #42 Zach Vockler for abuse of officials and attempt to injure an official.

The Sabres will travel to play Gillette next Friday, November 11 to take on the Gillette Wild. Puck drop is 7:05 at the Spirit Hall Ice Arena.

The Wild and Sabres met twice before already this season, with Gillette having swept the Sabres 6-1 and 9-2 back at the end of September. The Gillette Wild are currently undefeated in their last 10 games and are ranked first in the Frontier Division.
