Philip boys, Newell girls win Region 6B golf titles
RAPID CITY, S.D. – After a spring in which Old Man Winter didn’t want to go away, boys and girls golfers from across western South Dakota were finally able to hit the course on Thursday for the Region 6B Golf Tournament.
The top two teams, as well as, the top 40 percent of the total number of entries qualified for the state tournament.
Newell won the girls region title with a total score of 316. White River was second with 333 followed by Bison with 353.
Josie Rush from Philip was the medalist for the third year in a row. She shot a 90 to win the region title.
Meanwhile, Philip captured the boys region golf title with a total score of 280. Newell came in second place, 20 strokes off the lead.
White River, Wall and Harding County round out the top five.
The medalist was Keldon Fitzgerald from Philip who carded an 89.
