Pennington County Sheriff’s Office swears in new members

PENNINGTON COUNTY, S.D. — The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office welcomed some new members into it’s ranks on Tuesday.

Seven new Sheriff’s Office employees took the oath of their respective position during a formal ceremony at Rapid City’s Public Safety Building. The office welcoming aboard two jail correctional officers, two transport officers, a detox tech, A jail correctional nurse and a jail med tech.

All positions crucial to the services provided by the Pennington Sheriff’s Office.

Sephanie McCoy, PCSO Director of Administrative Services, said “They’re essential, not only are they post positions that someone else has to fill if they’re not here but they’re providing a service. Whether it’s an inmate, a detainee or a client at our care campus we need good people to take care of them.”

With Tuesday’s swearing in the new employees are now ready to start their new positions, filling vacancies at the Pennington County Care Campus, jail, and Juvenile Services Center.
