Pennington County Sheriff’s Office honors employees for service, including special honors for deputy

RAPID CITY, S.D.– The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office held a promotion ceremony on Thursday, which included honors for Deputy Anthony White.

Deputy White And His FamilyLast July, Deputy White responded to an early-morning call regarding a stabbing near Elk Vale Road.

The victim was found bleeding profusely, and White immediately began administering aid to wounds in the neck and chest area. During that time, he was also able to arrange for emergency and law enforcement response.

The victim survived, thanks in large part to Deputy White, who today accepted the Meritorious Service Award from the Sheriff’s office.

“The driver of the victim was directed to pull into the nearest gas station. I happen to be just a couple blocks away at the time,” he said. “I pulled into the gas station the exact same time the victim did and I rendered emergency aid to the victim as he exited the vehicle. The office here, the sheriff’s office, spends a lot of money training us, making sure we are capable, able to respond in an instance like that. I just relied on my training.”

Other members of the PCSO were also in attendance, honored for their combined 90-years of service.
