Pennington County Sheriff’s Office adds to its team

RAPID CITY, S.D. -The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office swore in 12 new employees and introduced new Care Campus employees.

Being sworn in were correctional officers, a booking technician, and deputies. For the Care Campus, there was a counselor and a group of detox technicians being introduced.

Many with previous experience in law enforcement and a few that recently graduated from college. Being sworn in as a Juvenile Services Officer, Maurice Wallum, who is a recent graduate from WDT. 

He says he can relate to the kids he will be working with and hopes to inspire them.

“I’m the first one in my family to ever be in any sort of law enforcement at all so it’s kind of huge. You can make the difference, you can be the change all it takes is a little work, a little effort,” said Wallum.

Both the Sheriff’s Office and Care Campus work closely together to ensure the overall well-being of the community.
