Pennington County new inmate transportation bus

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Pennington County sheriff’s office is upgrading its prisoner transportation fleet. They will be replacing an older, worn out model with over 400,000 miles on it. The sheriff’s office tries to replace the vehicles every 5 years.

This new bus can carry 36 inmates at once will 3 guards and 1 driver. This new and improved bus will not only help transport prisoners more effectively it also brings in money back to the county. Officials say the buses bring in over $500,000 each year.
