PennCo Sheriff’s Office investigates school bus crash

PENNINGTON COUNTY, S.D. – The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash involving a passenger vehicle colliding with a school bus Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 3:28 pm on February 11th, PCSO officers responded to an injury accident on Nemo Road involving a passenger vehicle that had rear-ended a Rapid City Area School bus.

On the school bus were three children, ranging in age from 7 to 10 years old, in addition to the bus driver at the time of the accident. One child sustained non-life threatening injuries. All three children were treated at the scene and released to their parents.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to Monument Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and was cited for Failure to Stop for a School Bus.

Agencies that responded were the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol and the Doty Fire Department.
