Pedestrian injured, police search for suspect in hit-and-run crash

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle believed to be involved in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday night in Rapid City.

At around 10:30 p.m. a woman was attempting to cross North Lacrosse Street near East Van Buren Street when she was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The driver, police say, did not stop after the crash.

The victim was transported to Regional Health Rapid City Hospital with serious injuries.

According to the RCPD, witnesses described the vehicle as a silver midsize passenger sedan. After examining the scene, police also believe the suspect vehicle now has a damaged headlight.

If anyone has any information about the whereabouts of the vehicle or its driver, they should contact Det. Justin Gizzi at 394-4134. An anonymous tip can also be sent by texting the letters ‘RCPD’ and the information to 847411.
