SD Highway 79 reopened northeast of Belle Fourche

BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Transportation has closed a 49-mile section of S.D. Hwy. 79 northeast of Belle Fourche due to road erosion.
Hwy. 79 is closed from the junction of Hwy. 168 to the junction of S.D. Hwy. 20 until further notice.
The traffic diversion at Frog Creek (mile marker 160) is experiencing “substantial road erosion.”
Anyone needing to travel through the area should plan to use alternate routes, including S.D. Hwy. 20 to U.S. Hwy. 85 south, or S.D. Hwy. 73 to S.D. Highway 34 west.
