Parade of Lights rolls through downtown Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. – On Saturday, the community of Rapid City gathered downtown for several holiday festivals.

Community members rang in the holiday season with the lighting of the tree at Main Street Square. After the ceremony, the annual Festival of Lights Parade rolled through downtown Rapid City. Despite Saturday’s snowy weather, the parade rolled through town.

The parade brings thousands to downtown to see a variety of floats, cars and local organizations.

Families and community members sipped on hot chocolate as they watched the floats with thousands of lights cruise through the street. The organizations spend weeks, and sometimes months preparing their floats for the annual celebration.
