Overnight power outage affects most of downtown Rapid City

4:35 a.m.: All power has been restored.

3:40 a.m.: A NewsCenter 1 crew reports that power has been restored to much of the Rapid City downtown area.

2:40 a.m.: Much of Rapid City, from the downtown area north to approximately Interstate 90 is without power. Unconfirmed reports indicate an electrical transformer may have exploded in the vicinity of I-190.

 

NewsCenter 1 has contacted Black Hills Energy, but has not received a reply as of this hour. Therefore, there is currently no estimate of when power will be restored.
