OST police search for armed, dangerous suspect tied to fatal shooting in Pine Ridge

PINE RIDGE, S.D. – Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety police are looking for a potentially armed and dangerous male allegedly tied to a fatal shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning.

Colton Bagola, 26, is considered to be armed and dangerous. Police say he was involved in a shooting where one person was shot in Pine Ridge and the gun had not been recovered.

“If you come across this male or know of his whereabouts, please call the police department at 911 or 911 or (605) 867-5111,” said an OST DPS Facebook post.

Police say they are also looking for four others in connection to the incident: Billy Reddy, 28, Thelma Ponds, 20, Tashina Jones (age omitted by police), and Ben Freeman, 29.

According to Robert Ecoffey, Chief of Police for the Oglala Sioux Tribe, the department is still looking for the suspect and details surrounding the shooting are not being released at this time.

A Facebook post by the Oglala Sioux Tribe – OST just after 12:00 p.m. said Red Cloud and BIA Buildings were on lock down over concerns of an active shooter. Ecoffey tells NewsCenter1 there is no active shooter in the area and he’s not sure what prompted the Facebook post. “We are looking for the person involved in the shooting,” said Ecoffey.

OST DPS posted just before 1:00 p.m. confirming there is no “active shooter situation” and “shots were not fired randomly.”
