OST police involved in shooting in Pine Ridge

PINE RIDGE, S.D. — The Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety received a call of gunshots at approximately 3:13 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Officers arrived at #4 Wolfhound Road in Pine Ridge and they made contact with a male in possession of a firearm who refused to cooperate with law enforcement.

The male went into his home where he refused to listen to any law enforcement commands for several hours.

Eventually, the male came out of the residence and shot at OST police officers. The man was shot by OST officers and taken into custody.

None of the OST officers involved in the incident were injured.

Per protocol and policy, the Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating the entire event.
