OST DPS makes drug bust near Kyle, SD

KYLE, SD — The Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety is reporting a drug bust made on the Pine Ridge Reservation near Kyle on Tuesday, October 20th.

According to their release, OST DPS patrol division was dispatched to a vehicle in a ditch near Kyle where officers located a male passed out in the drivers seat. The man resisted arrest upon awakening and was detained.

Officers located a loaded firearm in the male’s waistband. During the initial search of the vehicle, they located a large amount of cash and illegal drugs, at which time OST DPS Criminal Investigators were summoned to the scene.

The following evidence was located upon processing:

  • $3,915 in US Currency
  • 164 grams (5.79 oz) of methamphetamine
  • 23.5 grams of suspected Molly (ecstasy)
  • 3 LSD tablets
  • 10.8 grams of cocaine
  •  1336 grams (47.2 oz) of marijuana
  • Firearms and ammunition

During the investigations it was determined the truck was stolen out of Colorado.
