OST Department of Public Safety locates remains of missing 27-year-old

Long Soldier1PINE RIDGE, S.D. — The Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety assisted family members, volunteers and various tribal programs in the search for 27-year-old Cheryl “Tia” Long Soldier Tuesday, February 8.

During the search in the area known as Grass Creek near Oglala, S.D. where Long Soldier was reported missing, human remains were found and identified as Long Soldier.

Cheryl “Tia” Long Soldier was last seen January 3 at Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, and the OST had offered a reward up to $25,000 for finding her.

Long Soldier’s cause of death has not yet been identified and the case is under investigation.
