Open burn at Rapid City Landfill scheduled
RAPID CITY, S. D. – With the assistance of the Rapid City Fire Department crews, a scheduled burn at the Rapid City Landfill is scheduled for Thursday, April 28, 2022 at approximately 5 a.m.
The burn is anticipated to last throughout most of the day as long as conditions permit. The open burn will be for the clean wood waste at the City’s Solid Waste Facility on Highway 79.
The City of Rapid City, in a press release, warn residents and drivers in the area that they may witness plumes of smoke. Air quality will likely be impacted at times. The open burn is only scheduled for daylight hours.
The Rapid City Landfill will remain open to the public during this time.
