One person killed, another injured in single-vehicle crash near Murdo

MURDO, S.D. — One person died and another was injured in a one-vehicle crash near Murdo on Saturday afternoon.

The names of the people involved are not being released at this time until proper notification has been given to family members.

Around 3:07 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup was traveling westbound on Interstate 90, near mile marker 201, when the vehicle went into the north ditch and rolled. Both occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts.

However, the 31-year-old male passenger was partially ejected and later died as a result of his injuries. The 34-year-old female driver was transported to a Pierre hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this point.
