One person dead in fatal crash near Martin

MARTIN, S.D. — One mad has died Saturday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash that occurred two miles south of Martin.

The name of the individual is not being released at this time until proper notification has been given to family members.

At 1 p.m., a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup was traveling southbound on South Dakota Highway 73 when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to go into the east ditch and roll near mile marker 10.

The 35-year-old male driver was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this point.
