One dead, three injured after Thursday afternoon crash in Box Elder

BOX ELDER, S.D. – One person has died and three others injured following a Thursday afternoon, one-vehicle crash west of Box Elder, near the intersection of Country Road and Cordes Lane. 

Preliminary information shows that a 2005 Jeep Cherokee was eastbound on Country Road when the vehicle overturned.

A 27-year-old male passenger died of injuries sustained in the accident. The 26-year-old female driver received minor injuries, while two other male passengers, age 21 and 25, received minor injuries. Names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

Charges are pending against the driver.

South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and whether or not the occupants were wearing seatbelts.
