Aberdeen man ID’d in deadly car vs. pedestrian crash

CANTON, S.D. – The latest on a fatal car versus pedestrian crash on Highway 18 in Canton.

An Aberdeen, South Dakota man, Larry Pigors, has been named as the 73-year-old pedestrian killed in the crash.
The 25-year-old driver was identified as Austin Knutson of Canton. He was not injured.

One person is dead after a car versus pedestrian crash Saturday night.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, just after 8 p.m., a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe was westbound on U.S. Highway 18 in Canton. The driver then saw a man standing in the middle of the road. Police say the driver tried to stop but hit the 73-year-old man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 25-year-old man, was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.
The names of those involved are not being released while family members are notified.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
