One county business fails alcohol compliance check

PENNINGTON COUNTY, S.D. — Fifteen county businesses were tested by an alcohol compliance check conducted by the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office last week.

On January 29, PCSO visited 15 businesses that sold alcohol in Keystone, Hill City, Rapid City and Rockerville. Of the 15 businesses, an employee at one business was caught selling alcohol to underage informants with the sheriff’s office. The business found in violation was the Heart of the Hills Exxon in Hill City.

The employee was issued a citation for selling alcohol to an underage person. Supplying alcohol to a minor is a class 2 misdemeanor that is punishable by 30 days in jail and/or a $500 fine.

The charges are merely accusations and the arrested individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
