Omaha Street reopens in time for July 4th

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Just in time for the holiday weekend, the intersection of East Boulevard and Omaha Street reopens Thursday night.

Crews are putting a few finishing touches and will remove the barriers. Everything from Omaha to East North Street will be open.

Drivers will be able to turn left and right off Omaha and cross the bridge that has been under construction.

And there will be access going both north and south, from Kansas City Street to East North.

Roger Hall, Project Manager, said “The cool part about this project is it’s going to do away with all these small detours that we have around the areas on New York Street and on Maple Street and get traffic back over here.”

Beside road repairs, the project included adding median barriers, new lighting and repairs to storm and sanitary sewers.
