Old Navy, Big Lots! coming to Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. – An Old Navy and Big Lots! are coming to Rushmore Crossing, in addition to other building alterations across Rapid City.

The first phase of alteration permits for the facilities were issued by Rapid City’s Building Services Division in January.

Old Navy will be returning to Rapid City after closing in January 2010 at the formerly named Rushmore Mall. According to Elevate Rapid City, the clothing store was in the Top 10 retails stores residents wanted to come to Rapid City.

Both Old Navy and Big Lots! will fill the space at 1617 Eglin Street which used to be the site for Gordmans. Opening dates have yet to be announced.

The announcement comes with the City’s building permit report for the month of January. 164 permits were issued with a valuation of $14.15 million.

Other top permits issued during the month include Walmart Real Estate for alterations to the 1200 N. Lacrosse Street Walmart ($2,444,260), residential alterations at 1025 Fairview Street ($1,038,880), and AR-18 LLC with Scull Construction as contractor for additions to the Strider facility at 2221 N. Plaza Drive ($511,195). Building permits for Old Navy and Big Lots! were $491,000 and $495,000, respectively.

January 2022’s valuation total was less than 2021 (254 permits, $31.36 million valuation) but higher than January 2020 (226 permits, $10.31 million valuation).
