North Dakota reports near-record number of COVID-19 cases

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota health officials have reported 116 new coronavirus cases, the second-highest number of confirmed cases in a single day.

The Department of Health says the cases Saturday were reported in 26 counties, raising the statewide total since the pandemic reached North Dakota in mid-March to 4,907.  The previous single-day high for newly confirmed cases was Friday, with 124 cases.

No new deaths were reported Saturday. Health officials say 90 deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported. A total of 295 people statewide have been hospitalized since the start of the pandemic, with 38 remaining so on Saturday.
