Ninth annual Kids’ Carnival set for return to Main Street Square

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Kids looking to make the most of the rest of their summer vacation can head to Main Street Square this weekend.

The ninth annual Kids’ Carnival will take place on Saturday, August 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a variety of activities for the kids as well as vendors and performances by Sky Dancing Aerial Studio.

This year’s carnival is scaled back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While events usually take over parts of Sixth Street, activities will stay confined to the square.

“You know, we’ve got plenty of space here,” said Domico Rodriquez, the Executive Director at Main Street Square. “It’s an outdoor venue. Just a nice opportunity for people to get out and just let the kids be kids.”

Main Street Square will encourage social distancing practices during the Carnival and will have hand sanitizing stations at the entrances. Free masks provided by Monument Health will also be available.
