Nine new COVID-19 cases in Pennington County

33 new cases in South Dakota Sunday.

PIERRE, S.D. —The number of positive coronavirus cases in South Dakota rose by 33 Sunday.

A total of 13 cases were found west river including- nine in Pennington County, one in Meade County, one in Oglala Lakota County, one in Todd County and one in Gregory County, its first. 227 cases have been reported in Pennington County which has seen 59 people recover from the virus.

Four cases were found in Minnehaha County, bringing that county’s state-leading total to 3,349. Nearly 2,900 people have recovered in that county alone while over 3,800 have recovered statewide. Recoveries in the state rose by 32 Sunday.

A total of 4,993 people statewide have tested positive for COVID-19.

The total number of active cases in South Dakota stands at 1,094.

86 people are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19, down seven from Saturday. The number of individuals ever hospitalized for the disease  stands at 432.

The death toll from COVID-19 remains at 62.
