Night to Shine hosts dress shopping

RAPID CITY, S.D. — This Saturday was the final day for attendees to shop for a free dress for Night to Shine.

Night to Shine is similar to prom night for people with special needs. It was created by Tim Tebow, to give people of all abilities one night where they can feel like a superstar. All the guests start the night with a walk down the red carpet, which means that they must be red carpet ready.

Women and girls were welcome to choose from over 100 different dresses in stock. All of the dresses were donated and those that weren’t given away on Saturday will be saved for next year’s Night to Shine.

“The fact that they get to attend something that’s so commonplace for a lot of us is just awesome. You get to see how happy they are that they found a dress that they love and that they feel beautiful in so it’s just fun to be a part of,” says Lyndsey Akley, a Night to Shine Committee member.

Night to Shine will be at the Rushmore Mall on Friday, Feb.7.
