Newly opened Barber College gives back to the community
The South Dakota Barber College opened in Rapid City in March. As a part of their grand opening they decided to give back to Feeding South Dakota.
RAPID CITY, S.D. — The barbers in training at South Dakota Barber College gave around 1,000 free haircut coupons to food recipients, while helping distribute food at the Feeding South Dakota fairgrounds (distribution) site.
The college is also giving away free haircuts now until July 6 in exchange for cash donations or non-perishable foods, that will be donated to Feeding South Dakota.
The college believes in the value of contributing to the community.
Donnie Joseph, South Dakota Barber College Instructor, says,
“As barbers, you are a part of the community, so they get first hand experience going up to the cars, meeting the people, then the people are coming in for the haircut. It’s a great experience all around- free haircuts, these guys are getting a lot of hair cutting experience and also learning the business side of it as well.”
The college is open Tuesday through Saturday for haircuts and is located on Campbell Street in Rapid City in the old Mr. Movies building.
Walk-ins are accepted.
