New summer construction underway in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Construction and development is well underway in Rapid City this summer.

Office suites, an education building, a fitness center, and a brewery are among the projects in the works.

The newly-dubbed Dakota Market Square, where the Kmart used to be located, is also coming along.

Hani Shafai, President of Dream Design International, said “We have gutted the old Kmart building and we removed any asbestos or any material that is environmentally not friendly.”

Some businesses have already opened at Dakota Market Square.

A new town center on Fifth Street is complete, it houses a Realtor, a gym and a craft brewery.
