New improvements could be making their way to Sturgis

STURGIS, S.D. — The Sturgis Aquatics Committee is trying to get the community behind a man-made lake and mini-golf course.

The Sturgis Lakeside Adventure Park would be located at the fairgrounds between the softball and baseball fields. This type of park would be the first of its kind in South Dakota.

The Aquatics Committee will present its proposal to city leaders. The project requires a certain amount of petition signatures to move it along.

Allison Creed, Chair for Sturgis Aquatics Committee said, “We definitely want it to be, you know, a community based project. But we do think that it’s going to be an asset for the whole Black Hills area and we do think that it will entice people to come and move and vacation to Sturgis.”

City leaders will head the proposal on Wednesday, March 24 at 6 p.m. at the Sturgis Community Center.
