New business opens in East Rapid

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The local business community continues to grow as Rapid City welcomes a new manufacturer, and they need workers.

Cole-Tac in East Rapid makes a wide range of gear designed for long-range shooting, hunting and other tactical needs.

The Rapid City opening is an expansion to the company’s facility in New Hampshire.

Co-owners Dustin and Lee Coleman are also relocating their family to the Black Hills. The Coleman’s say the community and the state have been very welcoming, something Lieutenant Governor Larry Rhoden says the governor’s office is very proud of.

“We’ve cut unnecessary regulations,” says Rhoden. “We’ve streamlined the regulations that we do have so that they make sense in the real world and for businesses like that wanting to come to South Dakota I think that’s a very attractive calling card for our state.”

Cole-Tac is now actively hiring, hoping to bring on 30 entry level sewers with training provided over the next year.
