Nearly $800k in unpaid ambulance bills are approved for write-off in Rapid City, but it’s not the first time.
RAPID CITY, S.D. — During their regular meeting, Wednesday, Fire Chief Rod Seals asked the committee to approve the write-off of $790,000 in ambulance billing accounts.
Last year, in 2018, a similar instance occurred but that total was over $1 million.
Fire Chief Rod Seals says, “it’s the nature of the business.”
Many reasons for the unpaid bills are deaths, incarcerations or the South Dakota six-year statute of limitations on unpaid bills has set in.
