Native POP 2022; A gathering of Arts and Culture at Main Street Square

Npop2022fashionshowRAPID CITY, S.D. – Native People of the Plains (POP) 2022 is hosting a two day artist and cultural celebration event in honor of the show’s tenth year at Main Street Square.

Native POP begins Friday evening from 5-8 pm at the Dahl Arts Center where art enthusiasts will have the firsthand chance to view a some of the immaculate art pieces that represent the talent at this art market. Tickets may be purchased on Eventbrite under Native POP. Admission is $15.

The two-day art market on July 9 and 10 is a free event that will also feature an Indigenous fashion show with stunning models, a music showcase to end each day, and cultural performances. The Saturday fashion show will feature K. Looking Horse Designs coming all the way from New York, Designs by Della from the Crow Nation, and local Oglala designers, Mocca Cin Soul, Zuya Arts and Sam’s Auntie Wear.

The Sunday fashion show will feature designs created by emerging designers who bravely entered the first ever Native POP Catwalk Challenge, where fashion designs were created in an eight
hour time span.

The cultural performances will include a horse nation presentation, youth poetry slam, culture bearer’s, a comedian, educational powwow performances, MMIW honoring, open mic, and have informational booths of local area programs. There will be native owned food trucks, which includes Wateca Bowl from Sioux Falls, and area local’s Sergeant Popper’s Popcorn and Bean There, Done That! coffee truck. This year’s music showcase will feature The Reddmen, Arrow Evolution, Welby June and Wanbli Ohitikawin starting at 5:30 on Saturday, July 9.

The Sunday, July 10 showcase will feature Scotti Clifford & The Spirits Cry, Tiana Spotted Thunder, and Bert Malcom starting at 5:00PM.
