Names released in motorcycle crash near Lead

LEAD, S.D. — A man from Newcastle, Wyo. has been identified as the person who died in the Saturday night motorcycle crash west of Lead.

Chrisjen McIlvain, 31, and his passenger, Marina McIlvain, 29, both from Newcastle, Wyo., were traveling westbound on Highway 14A when they were both thrown from the 2017 Harley-Davidson FLSTC Motorcycle when Chrisjen failed to negotiate a curve.

The motorcycle traveled across the roadway and into a ditch.

The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and the female passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a Rapid City hospital. Neither one was wearing a helmet.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, and all information is preliminary at this time.
