Names of victims in Deuel County fatal crash released

TORONTO, S.D. — A women from Kearney, NE was identified as the victim who died Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash west of Toronto on Interstate 29.

A 2005 Peterbilt Conventional 379 semi-truck, which was pulling a full trailer and pup trailer, was heading northbound on I-29, braked to miss two dogs that were running across the interstate. A 2013 Mazda Sport driven by Robyn Lind, 60, which was going northbound rear-ended the pup trailer.

Lind was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the semi, Marlen Kasemodel, 49,  of Toronto, S.D., was unharmed.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts and were the only two involved in the crash.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
