Name of individual released who died in fatal crash near Martin

MARTIN, S.D. — A Martin man has been identified as the person who died Saturday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash south of Martin.

Around 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup was traveling southbound on South Dakota Highway 73, when the driver lost control of the vehicle near mile marker 10. The vehicle eventually went into the east ditch and rolled.

Kiel Cook, the 35-year-old driver, wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. Cook was pronounced dead at the scene.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this point.
