Multiple crews battle wildfire in the Rosebud Indian Reservation

UPDATE (11:00 am 11/18/21): The FT 16 Fire is estimated at 600-700 acres, with 10% containment.

ROSEBUD, S.D. — Multiple volunteer fire departments have responded to the FT 16 Fire near the Grass Mountain community, with more on the way.

The fire is estimated at 200 acres and is zero percent contained.

No structures are threatened at this time.

Strong winds along with heavy fuels and high fuel loading are posing containment problems.

Everyone is asked to please keep clear of the area to let crews work.
