Muller Manufacturing adding healthcare providers to their client list, making P.P.E. masks.

SUMMERSET, S.D. — A clothing and head-gear manufacturer in Summerset saw an opportunity to put his sewing machines to good use during the pandemic.

Muller Manufacturing owner Geoffrey Muller says he started losing sales from clients.

But he did see a need from healthcare workers and decided to make personal protective equipment (P.P.E.) masks.

A week ago, he started production.

“I mean, if we’re losing some of the customers just based off this, picking up this really gives some purpose,” says owner, Geoffrey Muller. “I mean, it’s awesome to do. I mean, to help out, any way we can is really kind of what I feel like everybody needs to do right now.”

Muller says one of his biggest difficulties is that items needed to make the masks like elastic are in short supply.

But the company was still able to create 100 masks the first day.

He estimates now they can turn out between 150 and 250 a day.
