3 seriously injured in motorcycle crash near Nemo

NEMO, S.D. — Three people were seriously injured in a head-on crash involving two motorcycles near Nemo on Friday.

Officials say a 63-year-old male was driving a motorcycle northbound on Norris Peak Road when he failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle entered the east ditch, but the man was able to drive the motorcycle out of the ditch.

However, once he got back onto Norris Peak Road, he went across the center line and hit a southbound motorcycle head-on. There were two occupants on the second motorcycle, a 44-year-old man and a 34-year-old male passenger.

All three men suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the first motorcycle was flown by Life Flight to Rapid City Regional.

The two occupants of the second motorcycle were taken by ambulance to the hospital.

None of those involved in the crash were wearing helmets.
