Mother’s Day is this weekend; if you’re traveling to see mom, here’s a look at the travel forecast

Meteorologist Erik Dean will tell you if you and your mom will need the raincoat, the sunglasses, or both for the upcoming Mother's Day Weekend

Well, if you’re a big fan of the 70s (and I don’t mean the disco music, the dance floors, and the bell bottoms. I mean the warmer air) then do I have a nice forecast in store for you. If you’re a fan of the 80s (and I don’t mean the extremely long permed hair in which it took an entire can of hairspray a day just to keep it from moving. Or in my mother’s case, two to two-and-a-half cans of hair spray in the extra large purple can, and by two-and-a-half, I mean one-and-a-half cans for her hair, and the other one is getting used as a microphone) then do I have a nice forecast in store you!

Travel Forecast:

Travel Forecast

Maybe a shower or two as we head into Saturday, but temperature-wise, not bad. We’ll be in the upper 60s, low 70s East River with mid 70s stretching from Pierre to Sheridan. If your travel plans take you south, North Platte and Dodge City will see highs in the low 80s.

Travel Forecast

Sunday will be much like Saturday but maybe a couple of degrees cooler. 80s will stretch from Sioux Falls to Des Moines. Dodge City, Wichita, and Kansas City should see return of the 90s.

Take the raingear with you just in case you get caught in a shower or two. Otherwise we’ll see a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the mid to upper 60s. Just make sure if you do caught in a downpour, to hold the umbrella for your mom.

In the case of me, and five of my siblings, we have to hold the umbrella otherwise if we get out of line and she has an umbrella in hand, she’ll be practicing a javelin throw in the house with it. After she’s done using her daily two-and-a-half cans of hair spray. (Love you, mom!)

Enjoy the rest of your Thursday!
