Mother Nature not in the Christmas spirit, blows tree over

Mother Nature was a Grinch to the Main Street Square Christmas tree Wednesday morning.

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Grinch was trying to steal Christmas in downtown Rapid City Wednesday morning.

The Grinch, a.k.a. Mother Nature, huffed and puffed and blew the tree in Main Street Square down at around 10 a.m.

One tether snapped and the 3,000 pound tree fell right onto the ice.

No one was hurt and the rink was not damaged, but the tree remains on its side until officials can replace the metal spike on which the tree is centered.

There is no ETA just yet on when the tree will be back up.
