More attendance numbers in the second half of the Sturgis Rally
STURGIS, S.D. — The Rally is preparing to come to a close as more people attend the 81st Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
Thursday brought in 52,235 more vehicles, bringing this year’s total to 423,273, according to the South Dakota Department of Transportation. That is a 12.9% hike from this time last year.
Warnings (2,488) still continue to rise as more bikers flow into the hills, yet arrests for DUIs are down nine from this time last year, misdemeanor drug possessions are down 70 from this time last year, and felony drug possessions are down 18 from this time last year.
No data update is available for official cups on Thursday, leaving the total for the time being at 14,100. As for COVID-19 tests, a total of 178 have been requested since the start of Rally.
On Saturday, Daredevil Cole Freeman will attempt to jump over Main Street at 2:00 p.m. The jump will take place at Main & Darley-Davidson Way, and the closing ceremonies will take place at Harley-Davidson Plaza following the jump.
