Monument Health warning public of phishing scam

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Monument Health is warning the public of a scam in the Black Hills in which someone will claim to be with “Regional Health”, calls and asks for personal information.

The call appears to be from the same 755 telephone prefix that is used by Monument Health, but the health system hasn’t used the Regional Health name since January.

Even though Monument Health may contact patients in order to coordinate care and service, patients won’t be asked to provide a social security number.

If you receive a call that you believe to be a scam, ask the person who called to provide their telephone number so that you can call them back. You can also hang up and call your regular provider to verify and do not share personal information.
